The most amazing creature to walk the earth....

"Tasmanian Wolf"

aka "Tasmanian Tiger"

"Thylacine"

The Tasmanian Wolf/Tiger/Thylacine was probably one of the most amazing creatures on the planet. It was a carnivorous  marsupial (from the kangaroo family). It walked on four legs bit had a pouch. It could also open its mouth at a 90 degree angle.

SADLY, due to over hunting the Tasmanian Tiger went extinct in 1936

stupid humans....

I did this piece using slab, with porcelain for the teeth, clear glaze, slip and stain.

House on the Hill

House on the Hill
This piece reflects the solitude that we all feel in our lives at one time or another. It is the act of being alone. We all feel as though we completely alone at one point or another. Sometimes that solitude can be good for your mental development.

Soldate clay, slip, clear glaze, underglaze, black stain

The lady in the mirror.....

The Lady in the Mask
The work of Gris Grimly inspired this drawing.

"Tears of Joy"
We can cry when we are happy too. I did this piece during lunch one day. She crys because happiness can be hard to bear.

Golden Toad

Black Rhino

This piece was part of a concentration I did on animals that have gone extinct due to Human involvement. The Black Rhino went extinct in the wild in November of 2011. This was caused by over-hunting and habitat destruction.

Highschool Sub-Culture

"Musician"
"Athlete"
"Punk"
"Bros"

"It-girl"

This was a study that focused on different sub cultures located in my high school and how our ideas of people are shaped by who they dress. These are a few samples of what I found.

Comic Art

"Green Lantern (Hal Jorden)"

"Spectre"
I've been drawing from comic books in order to practice drawing muscles and dynamic poses. These are a few superheroes that I really like.

God of Plates

"Horus Plate"

I made a plate by draping clay over a mold and then throwing a foot (for the plate) on the wheel. I painted this image on to the plate using colored slips (just watered down colored clay). Its the Egyptian god Horus.

My Useful Art

"Steampot"
I wanted to make a functional ceramic piece that looked like it was metal. I made "screws" and used a glaze  that looked like it was rusting. I think it was high fire "Shino". It works too!

"Ocean Cup and Tray Set"

I used a "Transparent turquoise" glaze for the outside, "Tenmoku" for the barnacles and "Temple Orange" for the starfish. I also carved sharks onto the sides using a blue slip overcoat

"Seedpod vase"
I used the seed of a dandelion for inspiration. The glaze was medium fire "hare's fur" and "shino".

Flower Girl

"Flower Girl"

"Flower Girl"

Its about a foot and a half tall and 3/4th of a foot wide (I'm just eyeballing it here). I used colored slip for the petals and clipper handle, porcelain for the eyes and teeth, and black stain over the whole thing.
